Maybe it was only in my own mind (excuse the pun) but I could not help but think of The Matrix on a few occasions during this movie. No red pill or blue pill, just a big metal box that takes you off to a virtual reality world, though in this case it is a world personal to the individual being targeted.
Don't get me wrong, this is in NO way an imitation of The Matrix. No, this movie stands on its own as incredibly original and very, very clever. A dream within a dream within a dream. How does anyone think of this stuff! Hats off to director/writer Chris Nolan. I also feel that this film stands above all else when it comes to some of the ' special effects. the 'gravity' scenes in particular are just unbelievable and I found myself asking ' how the hell do they do that. You think you've seen it all before in this Hollywood blockbuster era of cgi and the like but I was truly amazed with this movie.
My only real criticism, and its not even that really, is that the action is just TOO fast, TOO furious (good title for a film that. I love action movies but when I'm still working out what happened 15 minutes ago I just wanted the pace to SLOOWWW down a bit. Other than that I find no fault here. That said, top ten movie of all time - hhmmm.
In summary, awesome movie but you will need to concentrate and even then probably have to go back for 2nd, 3rd, 4th viewing.
